Mothers Day In India

Mothers Day is dedicated to celebrate the bliss of Motherhood. It’s a day
when we get the divine opportunity to thank and show gratitude to our mothers. Mothers are everything for us when we are small. She is the person
for whom we have stepped into this world. Our lives revolve around her.  She is like a protective shield from all perceivable dangers. To take us
out we hold her arms. To heal our wounds we run to her. And for a warm hug and love we look for her. She is the focal point of our lives, the
greatest human being in the world or better said the image of God on earth. On the special occasion of Mother's Day we pay tribute to our mother and make her feel happy.

History Of
Mother’s Day

The history of Mother's Day is quite old
and the earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be traced back to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the Mother
of the Gods. During the 1600's, the early Christians in England celebrated a day to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. Later on in UK,
Mothers Day celebrations started by the name of Mothering Sunday. Mothering Sunday came to be celebrated following the practice in UK of 17th
century where children from struggling families were send to work as apprentice and domestic servants with the rich. These children were
allowed to visit their 'Mother Church' or the Cathedral of their home town annually in the middle of the fasting month. Children
met their mothers after visiting the church and presented them with flowers and
special cakes . Thus it was a kind of Mothers day for them.

With the passage of time the celebrations of Mothers Day have gone through a massive transformation.
Today Mothers day involves everything from giving gifts , writing poems, cuttingcakes to showering mothers with boundless love. The festival of Mothers Day is based on the emotions shared between mother and a child. As grown ups it’s our turn to thank that special lady with the best that we can.

What to Keep In Mind When Selecting a Gift for Her

Gifts are visual representation of the abstract ideas like love and concern. We can only feel these abstract ideas but through gifts, these ideas can be given a proper shape. At times, it can fill the emptiness created by the absence of those who are close to heart. Moreover, gifts are also used as messengers to send symbolic messages to the dear ones. As it speaks the mind of the sender, it should be well selected because different gifts convey different messages.

While selecting a gift for her, the first and foremost factor is relationship. She may be the sender’s teacher, mother, sister, girlfriend or even fiance. Every relationship needs individual treatment because the emotional value of every relationship is different. The basic difference between the emotion attached to these relationships should be the primary condition for selecting gifts for her.

Other important factors that should be considered before selecting gifts for her are the personality and age of the receiver and her personal preferences. There are different kinds of people. Some are extrovert, some are introvert, some love to follow the latest fashion trends whereas others are interested in maintaining the tradition. The bottom line is that the gift should match the personality and suit the preferences of the receiver.

The age of ‘her’ is another major factor while selecting an ideal gift for her. There are thousands of gifts that can be presented to a lady. At the same time, it is also a fact that every gift is not for everyone. This is because choice and taste changes automatically according to our age and maturity. We can present a pack of chocolate or a teddy bear to a young lady but when we are selecting gift for any aged person, we have to think in a different way. Instead of teddy or chocolate we can present a fruit basket, saree, show piece etc. to an aged person.

Moreover every occasion is different from the other. This is why, according to the demands of the occasion, the gifts should be selected for her. One can send multi color roses for his mother on Mother’s Day or on his sister’s birthday but on Valentine’s Day, sending red roses for your beloved is an age old tradition. Now both the gifts are of flowers but the colour describes the message.

Last but not the least, the usefulness of the gift should also be considered in some cases. If someone is sending some electronic items for her, it should be considered whether it is of any help for her or not. If the gift is useful and can be used in the everyday life then it enhances the value of the gift.
